So & I want to get our first car together, we don't have car as of now his broke down at work. Was it hard with one car between you both? Were there any problems when one person wanted to go and the other stayed home? I just want some advice before I make such a move. Yes I love him and yes I trust him we've been together a year n a half. So we're starting to make family decisions. Help I've come to my mommas wives n gfs!! 😂😒

If it's what you can do, one car is better than no car. And eventually, you will want to get a 2nd car. Just make sure that you only put it in one person's name just to protect yourself. When my husband and I got engaged, I helped him to buy a car using my credit. I put it only in my name so that if he couldn't make the payments on the car he wanted, I could sell it without his permission. He understood that even though I love and trust him, that I was going to protect myself from the unknown.

My boyfriend and I have one car. Technically. Mine is a work in progress lol.  It's pretty tough for us because we work opposite schedules. But he gets rides from a coworker if I'm not home when he has to leave. And we make arrangements for it the night before. Communication is key when it comes to one car. You HAVE to know the work schedules and make a plan to get around.

Whatever works for your relationship is the right thing to do. We have one car that's in just his name and one that's in both of our names. We treat both cars like they're shared and the money for both payments comes from both of us. Make sure you can afford it or it will cause a lot of stress.

If you're not married at the moment and only been together 1 1/2 years I strongly urge you to either get the car in just your name or wait until you've been together longer/married.
You could end up in a situation where you don't last and you're tied to this vehicle and not be the one driving it. Or if payments aren't made should something happen financially it could affect your credit or his. If the car is in solely your name if you don't work out you get to keep the car legally and vice versa if it's in his name. I've been down this road before my sons father and I thought we would never part we consigned on a loan together and ended up splitting. He tried taking the car and expected me to pay 1/2 the payment even though he was the one driving it. He ended up not among the payments & I couldn't afford the whole pmt on my own so it affected my credit. The car got repossessed and I only got to drive it maybe 10 times bc he thought it was his car only before and after we split.

Me and my BF shared a car for 4 months and was the worst 4 months through out our 10 year relationship! But If you do it should go in the most responsible persons name because as soon as you miss one payment the interest rate can get super high.

We have a baby on the way, and I have two daughters from previous. So we really do need the car. I also think since this is our first big purchase together that it'll bring us closer if that makes any since.
