IUD Cramps??

I have been having cramping on my left side for a week or two off and on. Sometimes it just plain hurts, sometimes it feels like I need to hold my side in place to keep it from jiggling around, and sometimes it doesn't hurt at all. It went away for four days and just came back....I am still 10 days away from my period. I have had a copper IUD in for two years...and had it checked and an X-ray done about 6 months ago because of a different pain. Anyways, I don't want to go to the doctor really becaus I feel like I sometimes overreact to pain and the doctors just will tell me they don't know what it is or that it's nothing to worry about. Thoughts?
