New to birth control

I just started taking bc and I usually have fairly heavy periods for about 6-7 days. However, I'm now on the third day of my period and it seems my period has gotten really light and has pretty much stopped. Is this normal? Will my period likely return to normal next cycle or will the bc likely make my period lighter and shorter?
