Co- sleeping?

Question

To save money I moved back home with my parents for a while. I have brothers here too, so my baby and I will be sharing a room (which I'd prefer anyways). I know I'm getting a crib, but I know plenty of people share actual beds with their babies. I want to do that as well, but I know their are alot of risks involved.

I just wanted personal opinions/experiences with moms who co- sleep or co-share with their babies.

Depends how you sleep. I couldn't, I'm a restless sleeper n heavy with it.

All my kids slept in the bed with me til the was 1 cause I was breastfeeding but even after I was done here n there they would still sleep with me now my youngest is 3 n he sleeps n his bed alone with no problems

Personally I think when they can move well and let you know hey mom don't forget I'm here and they can wake you up  its alright but I'd wait till about 7 months old to do so thats when I started co sleeping and my son is 18 months old and can definitely let me know if he's uncomfortable he kicks me all the time if he's not and he's honestly pushed me off the bed a few times stole my pillow and is a total blanket hog

When I had my son I did a bit of co-sleeping and let him sleep independantly too in his moses basket or cot. If we was comfortable and slept he would be in the moses basket but if he didn't settle I would prop myself up and let him sleep on me or sometimes next to me but mostly on me. I'm a very light sleeper anyway and especially when you know they are with or in you, you become more aware. Hes almost 2 and sleep in his own bedroom in a toddler bed. The only time he sleeps with me is if he is very unwell like if he has been sick (which had only happened twice) ☺

My mum bed shared with all 5 kids until they where 2 years old, we're obviously all still alive! Unless you're a ridiculously heavy sleeper or going to bed drunk I don't see a problem

I was super scared of and against co-sleeping until I had my son. For almost the first month he slept next to the bed in a pack n play but after that he would only sleep if he had skin to skin contact with me. We tried a bunch of co-sleepers that fit in the bed and protect baby but he hated them. So my hubby slept as far away from me as possible, (he doesn't move when he sleeps) or in the guest room and I slept on the other edge of the bed with my son next to me. Normally I'm a pretty sound sleeper but once he was born mommy mode kicked in! I would wake up if he even wiggled a little. It worked out great and at 3 months we moved him to his crib in his own room. I was able to sleep better and by this time he was already sleeping through the night.

If you go online there are a bunch of great utube videos with tips on how and what you can do to make it safer! It really helped me feel more comfortable about the whole thing.

I co slept with all three of my children and plan to do so with my fourth. I also breastfeed and it made things 100% easier on me. I'm a very light sleeper and had no concerns of not hearing my children. So definitely think of it as a case by case situation. You need to be sure you and whomever sleeps with you is not a hard sleeper.

I would advise you buy a co sleeper,  or at least one of the travel cheap ones, it prevents you from rolling on top of the baby , baby getting suffocated by blankets ect, I have a friend who's baby girl died at 3 months because the blankets fell over her in middle of the night, I know allot do cosleep but please do it safely not with out a co sleeper not worth the risks.

I honestly think it's easier not to. I lived with my mom when pregnant with my first and me and my fiancé shared a twin bed so we obviously couldn't co sleep. My daughter slept in her bassinet until she got too big for it then set up her crib . The transition out of my moms house into our two bedroom was so much easier, she prefers sleeping alone now unless she's sick. We didn't have to try and have her "cry it out" or face the guilt of her crying because she wants to sleep in our bed it flowed well for us. I have nothing against co sleeping and probably would've if we could've but I'm glad that we didn't !
