Scared out of my mind

So me and my partner had sex without protection the day before I was supposed to start my period. Now my period is two days late, I got some advice from some friends saying that my eggs should be dead but I really don't know if that's the case. My period is random so I don't have a set cycle. My period could either start today or next week. I'm just scared that I'm pregnant. It is really early in me and my partners relationship to have a child. I just don't know what to do.
