Post-coital bleeding and BV?

My partner and I had sex Valentine's Day and I was bleeding Niagara Falls level all during and afterward (I'm talking like a puddle on the bed and covering both our stomachs, WAY more than just a lubrication problem...), which has never happened to me before. I went to the gynecologist (obvs) the next day and found out I had bacterial vaginosis...has this happened to anyone else? She didn't seem extremely concerned about any other causes for the bleeding but I never heard of vaginal bleeding during/after sex as a symptom.....
