A little vent...

Shannon • Second time mom. My first child is an 19 year old son and I just had a little girl on March 5th :)
My Dr is a man, he's very quiet, straight forward and to the point which I like. I'm 37 weeks and 5 days and have started having the cervical checks done each week. My male Dr does these checks and is as gentle as he possibly can be, still there is a bit of discomfort and pressure but nothing too bad. However, yesterday for whatever reason my Dr was not there and they had me see a female Dr whom I have never seen before. She tells me to lay back and proceeds to check my cervix. Now don't get me wrong, I know there is going to be some pressure but I swear to all that is right in this world that woman was trying to not only check my cervix but also check the status of my next meal, my appendix, whether I still had my tonsils and/or my wisdom teeth. I think in some part of the world we would be considered married now. Like what the hell?!? It has always been my experience that male doctors are way more gentle in exams than female doctors are. You would think "hey she is a woman so she knows this is uncomfortable so she will try to be gentle" but it seems to me like they want you to suffer as much as they do. I started to tell her that the last time I got that kind of treatment they at least gave me dinner and a movie first. Anyone else notice this? I know it won't be the same for everyone and that some female doctors are gentle but I have yet to find one. End rant.
