I cheated on my boyfriend of 5 years it was stupid I can't believe I did it and I told my boyfriend he was hurt badly we split up for only a week before getting back together he made me promise it would never happen again and I did.

It's never the same.  I tried to forgive my ex. We were together for 4 years when he cheated. No matter what he did, after he cheated I never was able to trust him.  I taught I would get over it. .but he ruined us. When the trust is broken, not much can bring it back... I found out a YEAR later,  that he cheated AGAIN 6 months after the first time.   Same excuses ..he's sorry,  will never happen again. . It was a mistake,  he loves me so much. .
First time-shame in him.  Second time-shame on me.
I have all the rights to this statement:"once a cheater,  always a cheater" 
I would never stay with someone that cheated on me. .never again.  One time,  ur out. In my eyes...falling on someone else's COCK, or falling in someone else's pussy, is not a mistake.  It's not something that "just happened" YOU MADE IT HAPPEN. Unless you said stop and the other person refused (rape), it means YOU, let it happen. Kissing, licking, hugging and fucking someone that is not your SO, it's not a mistake. . I have learned that finally. .

I'm sorry but from my experience I got cheated on and tried to make it work I said I forgave him but it was always in the back of my mind. I'm much happier now and found a man that's loves me. But for some I'm sure it would work there has to be alot of communication and forgiveness. I just couldn't get it out of my head.

I think you can but it takes A LOT of time and effort. My one ex cheated when we were first together. No sex, but still - he lied and he went behind my back. I decided to forgive and we moved on. I'd say it was two years before we were finally able to put it to rest. It was very hard and there was a lot of hurt and distrust. A lot of fighting (because it was hard for me to let it go). But eventually, we got to a place where we were very good, and I trusted him completely. We dated for almost five years. The first two were very hard bc of the betrayal, but the last three were very good. We broke up obviously, but for unrelated reasons, and we stayed friends for many years after that. My ex is a good man who made a mistake. There IS a difference between someone who made a mistake and a serial cheater.

My advice to you is to decide how important this relationship is to you. It's a lot easier to get over being cheated on if you break it off and move on. It's EXTREMELY hard to stay with someone when the trust has been broken. If you stay, you will be putting yourself through more pain than you would if you made a clean break. If you think it's worth it, then just know you're in for a rollercoaster. Looking back I do think my ex is a good man but if I could do it again I think I would make different choices. We were a new couple, and I put myself through that for someone if only known a few months, now I think I would never want to put myself through that again. I'm married now and if my husband cheated, I would leave unless we had kids. I love him to death but refuse to compromise years of my happiness for someone who would hurt me that way. The only situation where it would be worth all that work and effort again would be for my children, if I had them.

I never been cheated on that I know of  Just thinking of someone I love making love to someone else..no I'd leave. That's a deal breaker.

Imo it's never the same, while you may forgive and move on, there's always that resentment and it's always in the back of tour mind about it whether you admit it or not. There's always gonna be the one part of your mind that always thinks about it. I love my SO to the moon and back but I would never stay with him after he cheated. If someone truly loves you they wouldn't find any excuse to cheat.

I forgave my ex and we have a great relationship for two more years. We broke up for completely unrelated reasons. It really depends on the person.
