Things no one told me: add to it!

Nikki
1) contractions aren't just in the belly. This is my fourth and I've mainly had "back" labor.
2) when the milk comes in it hurts....I knew it was going to happen but didn't know how it was going to feel.
3) chapped/cracked/bleeding nipples are a thing.
4) going to the bathroom after the baby is born isn't a joyous experience by any means.
5) you may lose some weight when you leave the hospital but if you're on an IV you will be squishy and swollen with fluids.
6) take as much time as your insurance allows after the baby is born, it's the only time you'll rest knowing a skilled nurse is watching your baby when you're totally exhausted.
7) you will be totally exhausted. Even if it's an easy labor your body has just done something incredible.
8) your hormones will be crazy messed up...sweats, hair falling out, mood swings, skin changes etc.
9) you'll cramp like crazy for a couple of days while your body is still trying to rid itself of "stuff". So make sure to have something to help you, medicine, hot packs whatever it takes because you have a baby to take care of now!
10) don't forget to eat and drink yourself...don't even THINK about losing weight in the first few weeks you have to eat to produce milk!!
11) butt area (anus) spasms are also a thing...
