Am I being ridiculous?

My fiance and I bought our home last April. It's a bit of a fixer upper. We're getting married in May. Anyways, for our wedding present my future sil said she will be buying us tiles for a bathroom floor. The catch is that she is picking them out. And deciding which bathroom to put it in. It's a great gift, don't get me wrong. But we have other plans for our bathrooms already. And we have no idea what style or color she wants to pick out. Would it be rude to ask for a gift card to pick it out ourselves instead?

Mil also wants us to spend our honeymoon working on our house, but That's a whole different story. Lol

Unless she's some sort of interior designer I don't see why she would feel the need to pick it out. It's not her bathroom. 
Like if I was gonna spend all that money on someone's room Id want them to have it their way. If she's concerned you'll have too expensive of a taste she could give you a budget but yeah that's weird.

That's not a great gift! It'd be awesome if you picked something out and she paid for it, sure. I'd be blunt. If it were my SIL we'd end up with sparkly pink princess crap and I'd hate it. Nope, speak up or you might regret it!

It's rude for her to demand to pick out the tile. Who does that? You asking for a gift card instead and making it clear you already have bathroom plans is no more rude than that.

Why don't you suggest picking out the tiles together? That way she's involved in the process (it sounds like that's the important part to her) but you can express your taste.
