Gender blood test?

I'm 6 weeks pregnant with my second. So my friend is also pregnant(4 weeks ahead of me) and was talking about how she can't wait to find out the gender of her baby. I told her not to trust one ultrasound( with my first they got the gender wrong and my girl came out with balls and a pee pee) and she said she was planning on doing a gender blood test. Is there really such a thing? How accurate is it? When can they do it? Why wasn't I ever told of this?!?!

It's called the Panorama. It's technically a genetic test, I had it done when I was 12 weeks. It unfortunately ended up cost me $950 dollars though BUT without insurance it woukd have cost $1,500.

There is! There are a few different companies that do it and not all doc offices offer it. You'll def want to check with your insurance to make sure it's covered, because some people have been hit with a huge ($3000) bill afterward. It's technically genetic testing to check for any defects, but it also checks for gender. It's like 99.9% accurate.

I was told by Panorama reps that if your insurance doesn't cover it, the test will not cost more than $200. Get a referral from your doctor for the NIPT test and contact Natera for an estimate.
