Visiting someone who just had a baby while pregnant

My cousin just had her baby. I'm 31 weeks and spent the day with her and her baby on the labor and delivery floor. My unborn son kicked like crazy any time I heard a baby cry or a mom pushing.

My mom said it's actually not safe and when she was pregnant her doctor advised against going onto L&D floors when her niece was born and she was pregnant with my sister.
