Confused

I've had three miscarriages with the last one taking place in November of 2015. I went to a doctor that specializes in high risk pregnancies upon referral from a friend. When I went to see the doctor he was giving me a Pap smear he then proceeded to ask several times if I was pregnant. I told him no and once he finished up he prescribed folic acid and promethium. Has anyone ever been on these medications and if so what exactly did they help with?
