C section advice?

I just found out I am going to have to have a c section due to some medical issues I have. Does anyone have any advice or experience? I have no idea what it'll be like or how much it'll hurt I'm just really nervous.

I had an emergency c-section. I was not prepared for it at all. It actually was not that bad. I didn't need pain meds for very long - less than a week. Everyone's tolerance is different though. The catheter didn't bother me at all. It was awkward to breastfeed but manageable. I recommend buying underwear that goes up to your belly button, maxi skirts and pants/leggings that have a higher waist. Get moving right away and Take it easy. Ask for help. Prepare many easy freezer meals ahead of time. Tell everyone food is welcome when they come to visit. Drink lots of water.

Really isn't too bad. Honestly the worst for me was the shivering! I was shivering so bad it scared me but it's just all part of the process. You will feel tugging and pushing But nothing that's super painful. Worst part is recovery. Walk as much as you can. It will be painful at first but the more you walk the better. Getting up and sitting down/laying down and sitting is the WORST. At the beg it took me a good 5 mins to lay in bed. Tending to your newborn will be difficult the first week at home. Make sure you have lots of help since you can't just jump out of bed or run to the kitchen for a quick bottle. Overall it's not too bad. Like I said for me the worst is recovery as to the surgery was easy breezy. Take your pain mess around the clock, drink LOTS of water, have help for the first week and you'll be fine :) Hope this helps

The worst part for me was the catheter. It has to stay in for twelve hours after the surgery. The pain isnt too bad just dont let the meds wear off! The worst part is them pushing on your tummy and the feeling returning to your legs. Also kinda weird losin the feeling in your lower half, i could feel myself going numb. Theabsolute best   thing you can do is get up and walk around as soon as possible! For me the absolute best part was knowing exactly when the baby was gonna be born. Good luck!!

Mine was awesome! My baby was transverse breech and I was heartbroken I had to have a c section. I got a little anxiety when my legs started going numb but if I didn't try to move them it got better. It was actually a really relaxed feeling when they were getting her out your just so exciting to meet your baby. I had no issues with the catheter I didn't hurt after at all or when they took it out and I had it in for a whole day after because I had such high blood pressure. It hurts when they press on your stomach the next day and the first time you get up to go to the bathroom is rough. My face itched so badly as the morphine was wearing off that part sucks but otherwise I had a great experience.

I had a c-section w/ my daughter due to complications. I asked for as much medicine as possible so I wouldn't feel a thing and I didn't feel it until it wore off. Once it wore off it felt like someone pinching your stomach and if you have to cough, sneeze, or laugh hard hold a pillow firmly on your abdomen otherwise you would experience the worst pain. After awhile you won't even feel the pain but it will feel like you lost feeling around the area that was cut.

When procedure was completely over they handed my son to me as they wheeled me to the recovery room, where we stayed for 2 hours for observation before heading to a private room.  They gave him his first bath in recovery room, and shots, we did skin to skin, and got to breastfeed.  Wouldn't change anything for the world, but it didn't go as smoothly as I would have hoped, but I know what to expect this time around.

I had an emergency csection a year and half ago, and have a scheduled one for this Tuesday February 23rd.  I know recovery is a little harder, getting up and walking 12 hours after surgery wasn't the greatest, and I had to have people hand me my baby before I had trouble getting in and out of the hospital bed, and bending over. I couldn't eat for over 24 hours, actually for me it was more like 48 because I didn't know I was gonna have a csection.  Then they introduced a light diet, then regular food.  The time in the hospital is a little longer.  The doctors/nurses came in and checked on me every hour or 2, I can't remember and pushed on my stomach, when with the invisible staples, to make sure my uterus was contracting.  They hurt a little bit.  As far as before surgery I was scared.  The room was cold and I was freezing, I couldn't see what they were doing, and my husband wasn't allowed in room until I was preped and ready to go.  I was shaking on the table. The anesthesia made me sick and I began puking on the table before surgery.  They cleaned me up good and gave me anti nausea medication. They then began the procedure and ask if you can feel anything, no pain but you can definitely feel them tugging on your body.  Baby came and husband got to hold him after vitals were checked and he was cleaned.  It took them 45 minutes to finish my surgery. I really had a hard time seeing my son during that time, my husband was in the corner for a while holding my son while they tended to me.  I kept asking to see him, after a little bit my husband came over and showed me our son, I wasn't eye level enough to see his sweet face.
