Bipolar moms ?

Question

Anyone diagnosed bipolar and struggling with their pregnancy? I was diagnosed at age 9 with type II rapid cycling bipolar and have been unmedicated since 19. Anyone medicated during pregnancy or just have ways of coping ?

With my first son I struggled and ended up leveling out after his birth. My youngest I was fantastic, I felt better than I ever have. This pregnancy I am 8 weeks and have been severely depressed since finding out, even though it was planned and we really wanted a child.

I was diagnosed  8 years ago, Bipolar Disorder Type 2 Rapid Cycle. I have a 17 & 14 year old and really just suffered through life not knowing about my BPD. 3 years ago I was 4 months pregnant and ran out of my meds  (had no insurance and no way to pay for them) for the rest of my pregnancy I was crazy up down left right and sideways. It was horrible.  I am now 8 months pregnant and steady on meds the whole time. I will never go without by choice. I understand the risks, I know many disagree, but my doc is aware and good with me continuing to take them. I know, for me, there is no living without my meds (I take 200mg of Seroquel nightly). I fully believe it is 100% a personal choice, I simply know that I am 100% a better Mother, Wife, and person in general when I have my meds. It's by no means perfect,  I have good and bad still, and I work very hard to take as little meds as I possibly can and still be functional.
