Vicodin

Does anyone no any home remedies besides soup....tea....hot baths......heating pads....or bengay....to get rid of cramps or help me fall asleep.??? I try not to take any pills unless needed...so unless I'm n excruciating pain to where I can't function I'll take a vicodin which is a drug that tricks my mind into thinkn the pain is gone and makes me hi and sleepy, but I wanted to no of there were any other kinds of suggestions for a substitute for taking vicodin or should I take a sleeping pill?
