I think folks need to learn the history of the shit theys appropriating.

I'm sick of excusing ignorance when knowledge isn't being sought after, when truths are being dismissed because historical context isn't easy for folks to swallow.

Granted I've had a long day and I am fed up of feeling like my entire body has been colonized, but I'm done. So done. With folk who don't care to be intelligent.

I remember when I was younger, I got teased for having dark skin. I was in preschool when I first realised that something about me wasn't "right". The white children would whisper and say "don't play with her, she's burnt" I went home and cried. Then they began to talk about the braids my mother would put in my hair. The Afro puffs I would adorn. They called me blackness falls, and darky. My mom told me when I was as young as 4 years old I told her "I hate being black. I wish I was white." She told me I would tell her black people were ugly, that their skin was ugly; their features were ugly. I only wanted to play with white dolls and would cry if I received one of a darker complexion. I was bullied so badly for looking the way I do. But then you have people like Julie Jenner who ran to be darker and rock braids the Sam as the ones I did, but instead of being bullied and harrassed she's praised and adored. The way I look(ed), wasn't okay until a white girl did it. That's why this is a big deal. That's why this matters. All of you saying anyone can have big lips, coarse her, etc, are missing the point. It wasn't accepted to have these features until a white wiman came along and made it trendy, made it fashionable. This doesn't apply to all white people but: you hate us so much, but wanna be us so bad. I'm not going to be okay with you appropriating what I was born with; what I was teased for.

You all get upset when the "racial issues" are brought up saying we don't see color and we love black people and all that extra shit but steady bring race into EVERYTHING. I'm confused. Why keep talking about if if your not going to educate yourself or be behind the change.

Shit like this is bringing more of a divide. We just want our suffering to end our voices to be heard equality justice and for our people to be protected by the same standards you all are and for our features not to be criticized when you all are copying us. I personally don't give a rats ass if y'all are copying us. Just don't talk shit if we do it better since it originally ours.

Every culture has traditions and culturally specific things that only that particular culture does. We deserve to have some shit to ourselves too

🙄 yes any race CAN have these features but these features are predominately of BLACK culture. And yes, black people have been degraded for centuries about our "dark skin, wide noses, and big lips, thick/curly hair etc." So to say this post was complete bullshit...you obviously don't understand the significance behind what appropriation is and why POC get so upset over shit like this.
