Mixed Signals

I've known this guy for 6 years and we've been pretty good friends until one day where there was a rumor going around that we were dating . He changed after that day , he started to stare at me and blush and become for flirtatious towards me and lately when I'm walking home , he'll just pass by me and not say anything at all . But then the next hour or so he'll text me saying something very flirty . I just don't know what to do .
