Do you and your husband have a joint bank account?

My husband and I have had a joint bank account since before I even moved in with him. It's made splitting finances easier and saving faster. But I found out last night that my older brother and his wife don't have a joint bank account. My husband and I found that extremely odd for a married couple but maybe we're the odd ones....

We have both.  We have a joint account for family expenses but he also has his own account as do I.  To each their own I think 😊

Yes, but we each have personal accounts too. We put money for bills and sometimes a little extra we can use for nights out in the joint account. Also if one of us has a month we are a little short more money is added to joint account, so we don't get behind. It's so much easier to keep track of money and transfer it to the accounts it's needed in

We have had a joint account since we were together about a year, on year 8 now. We never had a problem, we both make it and spend it how ever we please. I pay the bills, so he does talk to me to make sure I'm caught up on them before making any big purchases.

No- our main accounts are with two different banks too.. But we are both on there to have access to eachother's. We just never made the switch and both work fulltime and make good money so there's no need. Its still "our" money. Not to mention, bank accounts are compromised all the time, so in our case we'd have another full account if that happened.

I know lots of people who don't have a joint account but I disagree with that arrangement. It creates issues and feelings of inequality, especially when one spouse makes significantly more than the other.   Marriage is about sharing in everything.

We had a joint account since we got married, and both have a separate account. I put half of my salary on our joint and half on my own account. We barely use our joint account because he pretty much pay our bills on his account.
