Engagement ring

My bf brought me a promise ring a year ago and proposed a few weeks ago i didnt get tears or excitement he proposed while we we were in bed smokin a blunt with no ring but i said yes. My mom said he already got you a ring he really shouldn't have to get a new one is this true and would yall be ok with this type of proposal ? I just felt all we been through I deserved something that showed effort but this is my promise ring
