Nursery budget?

Question

How much is everyone spending on their nursery, and what all does that price comprise? What # baby is this for you, what items did you already have, what was bought for you, and what did you have to buy? Did you do any major renovation to the room prior to moving in furniture, or did you just paint? Thanks!

We spent nothing. Reused everything we had and putting baby in our room for a while because the spare bedroom is upstairs. I'll be damned if I'm going up and down the stairs dozens of times at night!

I'm on baby number two. We already had the crib, glider and dresser. The room was painted a nuetral color so we don't have to change that. Mainly I'm just spending money on decor and fabrics. I spent a lot on the bedding because I wanted it custom. I'm still getting all the decor together. When all is said and done I will probably be around 300.00. With our first, family bough all of our furniture so we just had to paint and get decor and spent about the same.

We were blessed to have the crib and dresser gifted to us. We bought the rocker for $90, framed a pic for $20, bookshelf for $40 and decorative wall shelf for $100. So...so far $250. We still need changing pad, lamp, mattress and misc baby items but *hope* we will get those at baby shower.

This is our first so we are budgeting about 5k for the nursery. We have to paint, pull up carpet, replace the blinds and change the light fixture. Plus purchase crib, dresser, glider/ottoman, bookshelf, and rug. I make crib bedding for a living so I will be making all the bedding.

We spent $900. That included the crib, the dresser/changing table, a tall dresser with two shelves (that we haven't put together yet), a crib mattress, a changing mattress, and the rug. The only thing that wasn't new is the bassinet (which was $40 from Once Upon A Child), which is where she'll sleep in our room. We got the pack n play as a gift, that'll go downstairs. We didn't paint because we're moving in June and didn't see the point. However, it made us feel better and made it more real to set up the nursery with or without the paint. We didn't buy a glider because we're using the recliner (which rocks and is SO comfortable!) instead. The frames added up to about $20 and I printed stuff from the Internet instead of buying actual prints to go in the frames. I still have more decorative to do, but you get the gist. Excuse my mom in the picture, she was helping me sort through clothes. Haha!

Our total budget for the nursery was $405. We now have everything, compactum, changing mattress, cot, mattress, bedding, decor etc. But that is only the total for the nursery, we went way overboard with everything else. Our mother's banned us from buying anything else for the baby until after thw baby shower
