How many rounds of just clomid did you do before trying iui with clomid?

I've only done one cycle of clomid. The doc thinks I'm ovulating on my own but trying this since it's been over a year now with no pregnancy. I am wondering if any of you started on just clomid and how many cycles you did before trying clomid with iui?  Also what does it mean to do clomid with trigger shots? I don't understand what that is supposed to do. Thanks in advance.

My understanding of the trigger shot is it causes ovulation within a certain time frame. It gives the dr more control over ovulation and timing of the IUI- go in one day for trigger shot and it's basically gauranteed ovulation by the next day.

We are on our 4th cycle of Clomid, and have been told we can do 6 without problems- and even more after that under supervision of the RE.

Hope this helps. I will say, after taking with the RE and fertility center staff, we have both been able to relax a little and feel reassured that we do have options.
