Baptism

I am not religious. I'm not saying when we die all that happens is our body goes into the ground and we become one with the earth. I believe there is more after death but idk what. My husband I believe is like me. Too many inconsistencies in the bible and other past "stories" of what happened. His parents are requesting that we baptize our son soon after he is born. I would rather wait till he is old enough to make the decision on his own. My husband doesn't want to upset his parents. When we talk about it we end up arguing so I figured I would get other people's opinions on the subject. So what are your thoughts?
