Worried about getting hired while pregnant?

Hi! I have managed a Dunkin Donuts for the last 3 years (worked there for 10) I know my current boss would work about me having a baby, but I am graduating Ocupational therapy assisting school in April and by the time I am ready to apply for my new career I'll be 5 months pregnant. Is anyone worried about getting hired or not? Especially being new and maternity leave in just 4 months? I still plan on working more than part time (which is normal for this profession anyway) however I told this girl in my class the same concern and she said "oh yea they probably won't hire you" wow thanks great support lol .. So anyone else concerned about switching jobs or have an experiance they can share with me? Thanks !!

It's against the law not to hire someone because they're pregnat...but not if they can't function the way they need...they can make any excuse. I would not tell anyone yo interview with that you're pregnant...and if at,all possible I would try to nail down my new job before starting to show. ..

It does not hurt to try. I got hired on in my second pregnancy around 20 wks pregnant. I only stayed a few week's till I was put on bed rest tho.

I was thinking the same. My current job treats me like complete shit. Knowing I'm pregnant and had a previous miscarriage soon as i started the job, they refuse to transfer me to another department. I'm force to carry 40+ lbs on my shoulder while actually running food.  Its so exhausting i literally fainted on the job due to elevated blood pressure and dehydration. I'm currently looking for another job but would they hire me being pregnant?

I was 20 weeks pregnant when they hired me at my new banking job and i told them up front in the interview and all they could say was congrats and how excited they were for me! I thinn you should be fine honestly

I would keep you current job while you are pregnant.....the girl in your class was right, they are not obligated to hire anyone and you would not be an ideal candidate because you are pregnant.....it is not illegal to not hire you, they don't have to give you a job under any circumstances

If I were you I wouldn't get your hopes up too high with getting a job right away. You may have better lucky after and that is just a fact. When people see you're pregnant they will just think if they hire you they will have to hire someone else in a few months and retrain them so they would likely just go with someone else to begin with.

However that doesn't mean you shouldn't try because you never know what may happen. I just wouldn't be disappointed or discouraged if you don't get hired.
