Birth control for teenage daughter?

Question

What will you be putting your daughter on and when? Before she starts sexual activity? After she gets her period? When she gets her first boyfriend?
And what will it be? I feel like even as an adult, I'm not responsible enough to take a pill at the same time each day, and I would hate to have her slip up. But it also seems invasive to get her an IUD or to have the rod inserted. Any advice or experience is welcomed!

I got my period at 11, so probably when she gets to an age like 15 or first boyfriend that I allow her to go on dates alone with. I'd give her the pill. I wouldn't risk her uterus with an IUD. And lots of women complain about difficulties with fertility after the shot.

I'd make sure it was taken the same time everyday. For instance when she wakes up for school. Or at the breakfast table.

I wouldn't do the shit for them but maybe the patch. Or maybe the pill and I'd remind them untill they are responsible enough to remember them.

My mom waited until I was 16 I was not sexually active it was to "clear up acne" which didn't help I personally will go over fertility with my girls if they should choose to be on birth control I will help them in doing so either way don't forget to go over stds

You should really ask her what she would be comfortable having. You can't put a tube in someone's arm without them wanting to have it. If she would rather the pill You can put a reminder on your phone to make sure she takes it every Day/night at the same time

I got on BC myself when I was 19 because I was sexually active.  If my daughter has a medical reason for needing it then that's fine otherwise she will need to come ask me or her doctor for it when she is ready. (Hopefully not 2 young)

I told my mum I was sexually active when I was 15 then I went on the pill. So really, I think I'll wait until she comes to me. I definitely would not make her get an IUD, or any other kind for that matter unless she insisted. I honestly don't think much of birth control, it always had a horrible effect on me.

I guess I wouldn't be putting my kid on BC unless she was sexually active or had an expressed and interest to be. I would be honest and educate her about fertility and prevention etc.

However, if you are putting her on something, maybe the nuvaring? It's discreet and you don't have to worry about taking it every day at the same time like a pill. Easy to discontinue if she decides she doesn't like it. I've heard lots of stories of the depo shot screwing up cycles when you stop. And an IUD? Never ever. Just my opinion. :)

Talk to your doctor but I heard they were giving IUDs to teens in Colorado a few years ago and it was a great success.

I knew a lot of girls that got the shot when they were teenagers. I was on the pill and got pregnant at 18 because yeah, I wasn't responsible enough to take the pill at the same time every day (or every day for that matter). So I guess if my daughter asks to be put on BC, I'd do the shot.
