Birth Control

So I'm thinking of going on birth control. Are there any women here that either are on it or know someone on it? I have heard about 3 different birth control. The one that really attracts me is getting the shot. It lasts 3 months, so I don't have to remember taking it daily. Any wise words from anyone who is on it or knows someone who is? Obvious reasons why I want to go on it is to prevent any pregnancies and to help cramps.
