Weird discharge...?

So I got my IUD Jan 13, had a period Jan 28-Feb 5. I started cramping a couple days ago, around when my period was expected, but there wasn't any blood, which I expected since I got the IUD. I did have a little bit of brown spotting (old blood) which also didn't alarm me. But then I started getting this weird gloopy gray-brownish discharge. It also has a few chunkyish parts with darker stringy bits. What is going on? Do I have an infection? Should I be worried?

Sounds very normal, and I've had this myself a few times.

Because the IUD thickens cervical mucus, it's normal to have some heavy discharge.

The grey bits are probably just oxidised blood mixed in with your cervical mucus.

To me it sounds perfectly normal. Your body can take anywhere from 3 months to a year to really adjust to an IUD, in the meantime cramping, spotting and all kinds of strange things are considered normal. But if you're worried it's an infection go ahead and see a professional
