Weird periods

I've had an irregular period for about a year now and have just started taking bc pills. I started my period (as well as the pill) on the 19th of February but it hasn't ever stopped since then. I was supposed to end on February 26th but kept bleeding but it was relatively light. Then a couple days ago my cycle seemed to restart so I was back to having a super heavy flow and cramps. Cramps are normal for me but these cramps are the worst I've had in my life and are literally bringing me to tears. Not only that but my flow is super heavy (bleeding through a super in 1 hr). Could this be because of the pill?
