Hopeful! (Brace yourself long post!!)

Aliyah
So I'm 15w5d today and trying to stay positive as I approach the "scary weeks" which for me is 16-24weeks, since I had 2 prior losses one at 16 weeks and the other at 21 weeks. I was diagnosed with an incompetent cervix after the first loss and got a preventative cerclage done at 13 weeks but it started to funnel and due to other complications on top of that baby did not make it. Fast forward 5 years later and I'm married to the love of my life in a very healthy loving relationship and much more informed on my condition. Initially I wanted to get an abdominal cerclage done by Dr.Haney in Chicago because I just didn't want to take any chances, but I also really want to be able to have a vaginal delivery if possible. So I searched high and low for the best high risk Doctor in Atlanta. I quickly got an appointment with Dr.Graham at 6 weeks, I knew time was of the essence and needed to get all the info I needed quickly so I could make an informed decision on whether to stay in Atlanta, if I found a doctor that made me feel confident about the transvaginal, or book a flight to Chicago to see Dr.Haney. I told Dr.Graham about my thoughts on seeing Dr.Haney in Chicago and he knew of him and agreed that if my cervix was already short ok but really wanted me to see Dr.Koroktin at Atlanta Perinatal Consultants because he said that he was the best in the field and had a technique that he used to do the vaginal cerclage that was second to none! So we proceeded to check my cervical length and it was normal so we made a few more appointments to check my cervix and once I was 11 weeks he made the call to Dr.Koroktin who fit me in a few days later. So I met with Dr.K, really nice older man, he checked my cervix , which was still normal, and then wanted to talk to me about how he does his procedure. The basics are the same except that he moves the bladder to the side and places the stitch very high, pretty much in the same place where the transabdominal is placed. So I liked the sound of it and he was very confident in how he does his procedure and its success rate! We made an appointment for the surgery for a week from then. It went smoothly, I decided to go with General anesthesia because the first time I got the cerclage I really didn't like the way the spinal felt. Anyway the recovery wasn't too bad just mild cramps and extreme ones if I held my bladder for too long. I stayed home from work for a week, just for my own comfort, but I got the stitch on a Wednesday and Dr.K said it was fine to go back to work on Monday. So fast forward to now and everything looked good at my follow up appointment, my cervix is actually longer now then before the surgery. And the stitch is really tight. And now I'm getting close to my "scary weeks" and although I'm a tiny bit worried just best on pass experience, I'm very hopeful that everything will be perfect and I'll make it to term!! Thanks for listening to my story and I keep you updated!!
