Dying hair?

Question

I plan on asking my doctor at my next appointment but now that the weather is warming up I am wanting to add some highlights (I do it myself) and wondering if it's safe when pregnant?  I was thinking of waiting to do it after baby comes but I don't know if I'll get around to it.

Just wanting a change!

I don't think it's dangerous to the baby, but I have heard of a couple people who didn't have the colors turn out quite right because of your change in hormones. I don't think it's particularly common, but that's what made me decide to wait!

General rule is just to make sure the area is well ventilated. 
Which is something I do even when I'm not pregnant because that stuff STINKS! :p

I am always very surprised when people use nail polish and hair dye while pregnant. That stuff DEF gets in your body, and during pregnancy your body is on super absorbency mode. It's not worth the risk! I am excited to liven up my hair too when this baby is out 😊

I went back to blonde from brunette around 30 weeks, it didn't turn out at all lol. She couldn't get it to stop turning orange no matter how much she bleached or toned it... So I had purple hair to counteract the brassy orange color for over a week lol. She said that its never happened before to any client she's had and all she could think of was that I'm pregnant and hormonal and my prenatal vitamins I take. I would just wait for the highlights if you're only a few weeks away from your due date!

I have dyed or highlighted my hair thru 3 pregnancies....my older 2 are 11 and 13 and perfect....lol...so definitely no worries here. I am hoping to make it to my next appt on the 19th. Tried to plan it close to my due date so I won't need to go back in for 8 weeks after baby arrives:)

I was told by both Dr and my friend who does hair that it has been deemed safe because the dye pretty much just touches your scalp and isn't harmful enough or on long enough to enter your blood stream. I dyed mine black a few months back. I was very skeptical at first though cuz when I was pregnant with my daughter (6 yrs ago) they said it was a big no no.
