Iud questions

I have the paraguard iud and i have a appointment on the 17th of this month to get it removed i just kinda want to know what to expect when i get it removed i normally have a high pain tolerance and i didnt feel it much when they put it in but ive had it since September of 2013 but me and my husband want a kid together and i have 2 from my ex but this is the only time ive ever had birth control before so i guess what i want to know is if it hurts getting it removed how long do i have to wait after it comes out to be able to have sex safely and when can we start trying to get pregnant
