What worse recovery wise?

I had a 3rd degree tear with my first.  It sucked but was not anything that required me to modify my activity level much.  Not any more so than what I saw from other friends and their vaginal deliveries.  I didn't need pain meds for it and it was healed fairly quickly.  I also didn't have sex for over 6 mos after, hubs was deployed.  It was uncomfortable at first but not unbearable.  You can't even tell now, there is no scar or anything.
C-sections seemed to be a lot rougher than my tear, but I have never needed a c-section.

I voted c-section but then looked up what a 3rd and 4th degree tear entails and now I'm not sure one is worse than the other. I think they may be equally horrific!!!

I picked 4th degree tear. I had a 3rd and I could barely walk or sit and it took 8-10 weeks to not be sore. I tore sideways and down every time I peed or pooped it hurt like death. My sister In law had 4 csections and yes it hurt but healing time is usually pretty quick and you don't have all those problems with peeing and pooping which you do often.
