Abnormal down syndrome test?

Has anyone had their down syndrome test come back abnormal? Should I be super concerned? It's my first child and I'm a young single mom... don't know if I'm overworrying or if I should be? She'll be loved either way, just wanna know and stop worrying.

I declined mine. I feel if the baby will have any type of medical conditions then it happened for a reason and I'm suppose to do what I can to take care of it. All these tests that are taken while being pregnant is a bunch of crap to me. There's no way for sure to tell until the baby is born. Don't stress yourself and enjoy your pregnancy and your baby.

Mine did with my first pregnancy!  My little dude was given a 1 in 29 chance of being born Down Syndrome.  (It should be noted that I declined any further testing) and he was born without it.

Did you do the blood test and the Nuchal scan? Usually if you get one results as abnormal, they verify with the second test. Good luck!

Thank you! I'm OK with it whether she has it or not. They just did the blood test and have referred me straight to a high risk doctor. I refuse to do an amniocentesis. Of course everyone wants to have a healthy child with no issues but if she does have it, it won't change anything for me. I just want to know and know what the chances are. Just wanna be prepared and be ready and informed on it if she does have so I can help her the best I can.

My doctor said that test has a false positive rate of about 15%. He said the false positives can mean that there could be (not always) a different problem like the mom may end up with preeclampsia. My ob said if mine comes back positive he'll send me to the specialist I had during my previous pregnancies. He does 3d/4d ultrasounds. I won't do an amniocentesis though. Just a further in depth ultrasound and more blood work. Don't panic, it very well could be wrong.

My friend had it with hers, and whatever the odds were, they were high enough that she was convinced her baby girl was going to have it- and she doesn't...so when she went through her 2nd, she didn't do the testing, and her son doesn't have it either. Good luck either way.
