Do you invite people who work for you to your shower?

My BFF is so excited to throw me a baby shower she already has the place booked and wants a guest list.  I told her no work people and she didn't understand why.  I personally do not feel it's appropriate to invite people that I supervise at work because they would feel obligated to attend/bring a gift.  She says they probably want to come and wouldn't feel obligated.  What's your opinion?

It really depends how comfortable you are with your Co workers . I just moved to philly a year ago and the closest people I have are my Co workers . Yes I am their supervisor but we have always treated each other like family. I would just tell them you are having a baby shower and if they want to come . They won't feel obligated to go and you won't feel obligated to invite them if you feel they will feel that why about gifts.

I moved to Oklahoma to where my husband is stationed & the only friends I have are from work. I can see it being a little awkward since you're their supervisor, but I'm sure they're excited for you & would love the opportunity to celebrate with you. You could maybe have a superstar part at work with them.
