Help!

This past November my husband and I were married 5 years. We are expecting our first baby (mater as we are calling it :)) here's my problem... we have not yet told our families. We are revealing Easter weekend. My mom has saved my crib from when I was a baby ( I am 26) and she wants me to use it for mine. She recently told me if I don't use the crib and cradle she saved for me she was going to be very hurt. She's very controlling and I usually have to just do what she wants but I'm going to have to tell her no on this. We don't have time to restore a crib and cradle #1 and #2 it's probably not safe. I had the idea that maybe we can use parts from the crib and try to build a chair or something out of it for baby. She's just so controlling and wants everything her way. I want this to be an exciting time for she and I but sadly I'm more nervous than excited to tell my family the big news because I of this... any suggestions on how to let her down easy? I know she's gonna flip and I'm having so much anxiety over this.
