What is the difference between a father and a Dad?

To me calling someone 'dad' rather than father is more personal. Father sounds stand off-ish but dad is loving and caring? It does to me anyway 😂 at times I still call my dad 'daddy' or 'daddykins' 😂😊

My son's father donated sperm to make him my fiance is his daddy not by anyone's decision but my son's he started calling him daddy. My son's father does nothing and never sees him his daddy gives him hugs and kisses buys him diapers and supports him and us

My father got my mother pregnant and was absent most of my life. My dad is the man my mom is married to and the man that's been at all my major life events and how I call in a crisis or if I need advise.

A father makes a baby but a dad is who raises it. Sometimes those men are one and the same, other times it isn't.

A father/sperm donor is a "man" who cares only about himself. He has no intention of providing for, taking care of, and raising the kids he produced. 
A Dad is a man who provides, takes care of, cares about, and raises his kids regardless of paternity (ie stepdad). He reads you bedtime stories and tucks you in; then says he loves you as he turns out the light and walks out of your room. He puts band aids on your cut up knee and checks for monsters under your bed and closet. He helps you with your homework and teaches you things like how to change a tire. When things are hard he tells you it'll get better and he's only a phone call away if you need him. He's one of your biggest cheerleaders and is full of advice. He tells you the things he did in his younger years, like setting off fireworks in the house or dropping M80s down the school toilet, and tells you not to do it. He comes to pick you up from a party because you're too drunk to drive with no questions asked; he's just happy you called and aren't in a ditch somewhere or worse. He cries at your wedding and says he doesn't know how you grew up so damn fast. He turns to mush when you make him a grandpa and spoils your kids because nobody has the balls to spank grandpa or tell him "no". You dread the day when he's gone and when that day comes, you think "I miss my dad. I wish I could talk to him. I wish he was here".
