Is my baby further along ?

I got my positive 8 days before my period was expected. Friday the 4th I went to the er and they sent me home thinking it was the stomach flu. So I left it come Monday I took a test at 9 pm just for shits because I felt so off. And It came up a clear positive! So I took test all week. Than ended up in the er on Friday the 11th. My hcg was 172. Than on Sunday they took it again and it was 350. They kept taking blood for the whole week every second day. Would I be a week ahead because of how early I found out ? And how early implantation was etc? I'm 5 weeks today so I was wondering.

Baby's gestational age is based off of the first day of your last period. So whatever day that is, count from there and that's how many weeks you are!

How many dpo did you get your positive? For a person who has a 14 day luteal phase, being 8 days prior to your period would put you at 6dpo, which is the earliest an egg can implant and start pumping out hcg. But a normal luteal duration is anywhere from 12-18 days, depending on the person. So if, for example, your luteal phase is normally 18 days long, being 8 days before your period would be 10dpo, which is enough time to get a clear positive if you implanted at 6dpo. Or there's the other side of the coin, where it could be multiples, and that's why your levels went so high so quick. Or you ovulated earlier in your cycle than expected (especially likely if you haven't been tracking).

The way Drs figure how many weeks you are is from the first day of your last period. Count from there is that's how many weeks you are.

When they do your first ultrasound they'll give you an accurate due date. You definitely could be further along than you think, it just depends. Sometimes going off of your last period isn't accurate at all, it wasn't for me & now im due in 2 days! (:
