Midwifery - anyone who can share their experiences?

Question

Share your experiences of births with a midwife. Were you high or low risk, what country are you in, how accessible are these services in your community, did you give birth in hospital, home or a birthing center?

With my first I had a doctor and it was always a different one because I went to the health department in the town I live and this time we are using a midwife and it is completely different and we love it it's way more personal and they are more involved in everything it's really nice to have a more personal experience this time than j did the first go around

I had nurse midwives for both of my previous kids. But I had them both at kaiser. I loved my midwives. I had an epidural for both. But the midwives are very personable and caring towards moms. I would definitely recommend them! And on an aside- my mom was a midwife:)

I'm currently pregnant with my first. We live in the US (Nebraska). A couple hospitals in the area have midwives available, but we opted to go to a birth center run by midwives. They partner with a local OB for any patients who end up being high risk. If you are low risk you can deliver at the birth center or at the nearby hospital. If you're high risk then you have to deliver at the hospital. I have loved my midwife. Always felt respected and got all my questions answered.

I had a midwife for my first child and I was disappointed because day of delivery the doctor who was Gona deliver was completely lost and I endured a lot of stress which led to a cesearen ..for my so.mn and this one I had doctors and I was and am completely happy to know that he did and will follow me throughout my pregnancy..
