Has anybody made their own wraps?

I want to try out baby wearing but wraps are so dang expensive. I know it's just a big piece of cloth and I know it's possible to make your own. Has anybody done this? What type of material is best and what are the dimensions?

I got a big piece of fabric (6 meters by 1 metre) from someone for my last pregnancy and used it to wrap until my son was about 8 months.  It was a thin, but strong and soft cotton.  I just looked up YouTube videos on how to tie a Moby wrap and I was set!!!

This time I'm going to get a different color (mine was white, so it's looking dirty now) and I'm going to make it 5 meters because 6 meters was WAY too long.  I'm just going to go to the fabric store and see which fabric feels the best.

Try to find a 100% cotton that has two way stretch - that will mean it is breathable and not too hot but will allow for wrapping. I made one and am excited to use it when baby arrives
