Can thyroid disorder cause a false positive?

After a few chemicals last year I was tested and found out I had low Progesterone. From that my dr decided to check my thyroid ... and we found the main problem! Thyroid disorder causes hormone imbalance (I never knew that). Hence my low progesterone... Since then I've been taking synthroid and feeling good.

My dr told me when you have a thyroid disorder sometimes the TSH can mimic HCG and give you a false positive.

I've googled and couldnt find anything on what my dr said. Has anyone else heard the samething?

I'm confused and don't know if I can get excited yet.
