What do newborns wear at the hospital?

Question

I'm getting together my baby's hopital bag and I'm assuming the baby will be wearing the clothing that I pack (underneath swaddle) for the time we are at the hopital. My husband seems to think the baby will be in hopital gear. Baby is due in the summer, if anyone has experience. Thank you!

Another option is keeping baby in a diaper and on your chest skin to skin with a blanket over top.  Your body temperature will regulate babies.  Skin to skin helps jump start babies system and promotes bonding and a great breastfeeding relationship. :)

There is plenty of time for cute clothes. :)

I have many niece and nephews they were always in the little hospital shirts and blankets til they went home. I personally don't mind .  I won't put my baby in his own cloths til the day we leave but I would guess it's up to you I dunno if the hospital has rules or not

I kept my daughter in the hospital shirts they provided, it made it easier to get skin to skin with her. Only changed her in an outfit when we left for home.

If you bring clothes baby can wear those clothes. But my sister stupidly le my niece pack the baby's bag and didn't check it and she packed 6-12 month clothes so he stayed in the hospital shirt the whole time.

When I had my son he wore the clothes I packed him. We left him in the little half shirt that they put him in for a little while after his first bath but soon changed him into something cute and warm.

I had my daughter in August and they had a shirt for babies to wear. But I just put her in clothes I wanted her in. The nurses didn't care at all. Some hospitals care. If they are wearing something different. So I would call. I also brought my own blankets to swaddle her in. But it was fun to be able to dress her in what I wanted to the whole time I was there. I mostly just kept her in onesies and then a swaddle.

Midwives told me they have clothes and diapers for the baby so you shouldn't need to bring anything but I packed clothes to bring him home in and I wanted to be able to put him in something cute right away lol

My daughter is going to be in a gown. Not a dress...it has elastic by her feet and it has built in mittens. The hospital usually throws them in a T-shirt or just has them in a diaper but I'm going to have her pit on the gown instead.

I left him in the hospital shirt and used a blanket I packed for him. He had a big alarm attached to his ankle(so he didn't get stolen I'm guessing lol) as well as hospital tags on his other leg. Pants didn't make sense to me.

Remember baby is coming from a very warm climate so get baby merino. I had a short sleeve/leg body suit with a cotton one over the top. Baby needs to be kept warm until he adjusts to his new freezing home outside of you
