Opinion on Pre-Conception appointment

Just wondering opinions on pre conception appointments? Did you have one? Why are they good to do before trying to conceive? Do OBGYN's recommend them? I have recently just started ttc and it worries me a little if all is well in there and functioning properly... Would a woman know if a tube is potentially blocked unless they were checked out? Thanks for all and any input!
