Male or Female OB/GYN?

Question

I have gone to both male and female OB/GYNs and personally do not have a preference. If they are a professional, caring, and highly educated I will be fine regardless of their sex. However, many women in my life are against going to either male or female OB/GYNs.

I've had one female and two male OB/gyns. When I was seeing the woman I was a teenager and she seemed very judgmental and disrespectful. Both of my male OB-gyns were/ are easier to talk to and more inclined to be straightforward with me. The one I have now is my absolute favorite and I wish he was practicing when I was pregnant with #1. He's only been in practice for a few years now.

I have a male obgyn and he is thoughful, caring, and none of the procedures he has performed on me have been painful. Love the guy

I used to only go to a female on/gyn. But with my first pregnancy I decided to go natural so I switched to a midwife practice that had 3 make OBs on staff for complications. Saw only the midwives for all my appointments, but in the end needed forceps to help deliver so one of the OBs came in. Let's just say after him placing forceps in, helping deliver my baby, and patiently stitching up my 3rd degree tear, I no longer care if I have to see one of the male OBs!

I have seen two males lately and they were both condescending and uncaring. I wanted to know why I had so many pregnancy symptoms even though I wasn't pregnant. They both treated me like I was an idiot. Neither listened to me at all. I have been waiting a month for my blood work, cultures, and urinalysis. I won't be seeing another male OB.

I had one male and he looked sooooo much like Terry Crews and my friend was with me and singing *a thousand miles* became a whole new inside joke 😩. He was nice and much more gentle than most female doctors, however with my dysmenorrhea he was determined to put me on birth control (the ring) when i openly expressed I was against it... Soooo I checked out another doctor (female) who told me I was a failure for having kids before marriage 😒

Male obgyns are more gentle and easier to get along with. They also seem to be more compassionate and in my experience knowledgeable. I have had several male gynos (I moved alot) and one female. Worst experience ever with anything was with the female gyno. Have no idea what she was doing down there, but she was rough and rude. And to top it off I bled for a couple days after that appointment (wasn't anywhere near my period)

I feel having a female OBGYN is better (to me) because even though they have to go through the same schooling, since the female drs actually have to deal with everything having to do with a vagina, they're a bit more understanding and relatable when it comes to issues/periods/pregnancy

I go to an all woman office, but the only Dr around to deliver my daughter was a man. I was so scared because I've never had a male Dr. But he was wonderfu! Totally didn't make me feel uncomfortable or anything
