Pregnancy and nightmares are they related?

Question

I've never really had nightmares before I'm now 27 weeks and in the past week I've had 2! One in which all my teeth fell out and last night I had a really bad one which upset me. In my dream a man was watching me and my daughter for a few weeks and broke into my house dressed as my daughter! Freaked me out!

Is it common to have nightmares?

In my first trimester, I had some nightmares and really weird dreams. In my second trimester, they kinda tapered off and were just extremely vivid. However now in the third trimester, they've gotten extremely weird and scary. I'm almost 31 weeks and I feel like they're getting crazier by the week :/

Between weeks 5 and 9 I had horrible nightmares...almost all of them were me trying to escape natural disasters.  Most were floods or typhoons.  I live in Illinois and will never have to worry about either of those...lol.  With my son 8 yrs ago, I had dreams that he was born a lizard or a bird.... so weird.

Almost every night I dream of being shot in the head, teeth falling out, being sucked up by a tornado, school shootings... it's normal. Lol

I had EXTREMELY vibrant dreams in my 1st trimester, even sleep paralysis. It was terrifying. Also, I've had the dream that my teeth fall out countless times since I was about 15. That one seems to be stress induced.

I keep having dreams about a baby born 15 weeks ish, where it still looks like a tad pole. :( I've had it twice in 2 nights in a row... But I'm 30 week. Baby due have marginal cord insertion but he's moving fine and heart beat fine and fluids are good. He's just small. I have no idea what it could mean though.

Very common. And realistic too. It's a hormone thing.
