To take ibuprofen on an empty stomach or should I try to eat first?

Definitely have something in your stomach before taking ibuprofen. I took 800mg once after getting some teeth out and had a terrible stomachache (the dr said i was on the borderline for doses and gave me the larger one. I went back to the standard dose the next day and was fine). also avoid taking it right before laying down.  if you're prone to stomach issues use tylenol instead. Its also a little safer to use on an empty stomach since its processed by the liver, but its just a good idea to try to have something in your stomach before taking any otc pain meds.

Whenever I took ibuprofen with having a empty stomach. I always got extremely painful cramps in my stomach to the point I couldn't move and then I'd throw up.  Always eat first

I never have to worry about taking ibuprofen on an empty stomach and even as a paediatric student nurse we often gave children their early morning ibuprofen on an empty stomach. Saying that - it can cause irritation in some people and so if you've got any doubt it wouldn't hurt to have a snack first.

Ibuprofen is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory. These are known to cause G.I. upset and ulcers on empty stomachs. Some people have a stronger stomach than others. If it's possible, it's always better to take it with food. As someone who has a GI ulcer, I would do anything that could cause one if you can prevent it..
