Would you stay in an unhappy marriage?

Would you stay in an unhappy marriage if you two had children ? Just for the kids?

I did it for way too many years. And you know what, the kids were fine with it when I finally did leave.

Coming from the product of a broken home,  it was more damaging for me to see my parents toxic relationship than it was when they finally decided to divorce.

I left an unhappy marriage when my daughter was 16 months old (we got pregnant a year after we got married). I was young and stubborn, so I married him even though I knew he wasn't the right one for me. I wanted my daughter to see what a marriage is supposed to be. I tried to keep the marriage going for quite a while, but didn't receive any effort from him. Everyone is different, but a marriage definitely takes two. My parents are divorced and we were all way better off with them apart. Depending on the circumstances, I feel like staying together for the kids may actually do more harm than good.

I would at least give it a try. Counseling, individual and counseling, and focus on what I can do better and go from there.

Totally depends on the issues as well.

Depends! If I'm just unhappy , yes if stay for my kids. If we fight a lot or don't get along or he's abusive /mean then no I'd leave

From personal experience and those of my friends, I think it's much more damaging to the children to stay in an unhappy marriage than to leave. Even if you try to hide it behind a happy face, kids sense things and figure them out or worse, learn that that's the norm for relationships

Just because a marriage is unhappy now doesn't mean it has to stay that way. It takes effort to keep a marriage happy when you have a lot going on. I would make it a priority to work on our relationship and change the unhappiness. Now if he was abusive or something like that it would be totally different.

I don't think it's fair to the kids seeing their parents be in such an unhappy relationship for all their lives

I tried that. Just made things worse so I ended up leaving
