When to buy baby items?

This is my first pregnancy and I'm super excited. I'm only 7 wks today but every time I go in the store I want to buy baby items!! I know it's too soon but I just want to know what's the general time frame most people wait to start buying baby items?

My husband has had 4 kids before we got married and he's learned to wait until 6 months just in case things like a miscarriage happen.

I began to pick up little neutral bits (e.g a coming home outfit, a blanket, a few bottles because they were on sale) after my first scan which should have been earlier, but I had at 15wks. From here, I slowly gathered more and more little bits and bobs but didn't buy anything major until we knew the sex! Now 25+2wks and the only thing left to buy is a cot bumper and baby monitors😍

I started buying Diapers and wipes as soon as I found out those are Obviously not gender specific and you can never have too many I'm waiting on anything else until I find out the gender

I started buying things when I was 9 weeks. Just little things, found the bottles I wanted to use, a few outfits. I'm now 20+3 and have his car seat, swing, and bouncy and I just bought those this weekend.

My husband and I bought a car seat, white crib, nightstand, bouncer, boppy feeding pillow, glass bottles, a pack n play, and a high chair before we even conceived... I know it sounds weird but I know someone who does those "pallet" returns from Khols, Walmart, Babies R Us, etc. and they sold it all for half price, unopened. We are doing navy, white and gray for a boy and pink, white and gray for a girl. Everything she had was gray and white so it worked out perfectly. Now I'm going a "Dipey and Wipey Party" for our baby shower. 😊

Once you find out gender and are past that crucial point. I got most my stuff free so far so im excited.

What I would suggest instead of buying things is buying gift cards. If you were gonna spend $25-30 a trip on stuff to put that on a Walmart gift card or target one instead and then save them. That way the money is "put aside" and that could buy diapers, clothes, wipes, all sorts of things.

I bought stuff that We would need irregardless of the sex in the beginning. Saved all the receipts in case of miscarriage. But got the crib, changing table, diaper bag, and bottles, stuff like that in the beginning. Waited until I knew the gender to buy anything else.
