Had sex last night, have the pill at home. Will it still be affective if I take in now??? (First time taking it)

I'd definitely take it as soon as you get home, it won't necessarily stop you from getting pregnant but it stops ovulation within hours (I monitor my ovulation alongside the pill and noticed this after I missed a couple), did you use a condom?
