You ovulate 24-36 hours after an lh surge. Once you've ovulated, the egg is viable for approximately 24hrs, but sperm can live for a few days so your best bet each cycle is to BD the few days leading up to your usual/predicted ovualtion day and then the day you get an lh surge as well. Unless you know or suspect your SO to have fertility issues, you can have sex every day during fertile time if you wish so BD the couple days before ovulating (or every other day if you feel burnt out) then the day of the surge and then for safe measure the day after as well.
