My Birth Story! (It's Long!)
My water broke yesterday (4/9/16) at 4:30 pm while I was visiting my parents at their house. Thank goodness it happened there and not at the store I was about to go to because I was wearing white pants! 😁 We got to the hospital around 5:30 but my contractions weren't serious and they sent us out walking to see if we could get some contractions going. It must be a sight to see a big ole pregnant woman walking in hospital gowns because we were stared at like none other! Anyways, when nothing progressed I was hooked up to pitocin at 8:30pm. I lasted until 1 am with the pain before I got the epidural. Best decision I ever made!! The anesthesiologist took such great care of me and I couldn't have survived birth or even made any progress without the pain relief. I tried some medicine via IV before my epidural but it just wasn't enough to take the edge off. By 7 am I was dilated to a 10 but baby was still at -1 with his head turned sideways. If you have never heard of a peanut ball, you should seriously consider using one. It turned my baby into position. Once he got to a 0 my epidural had worn off on one side and it was the most intense pain I have ever felt in my life. I started throwing up and having the worst heat flash of my life! I told the nurses and dr I had to take a break and pump some more medicine into my back. I managed to put myself into somewhat of a trance where I just focused on the pressure of his head coming down the birth canal. After that, I had him within 10 pushes! Once I could see that little head crowning I knew I could get him out in one push and I did! He surprised everyone in the room by flying out of there so fast. Haha I tore but it was a 3rd degree tear (I believe) and I honestly was so focused on baby that I didn't feel it. Later when I found out his head was 14" I was extremely proud of myself for pushing that sucker out! 😂

Although my entire process from water breaking to birth was 21 hours, I am insanely grateful for the adorable little man I was blessed with and my FANTASTIC husband who supported me 100% of the way. I couldn't have done it without him and I would never have had such a perfect little boy without my husband either. 😉
Good luck to everyone who is about to meet their little ones! It really is the most beautiful experience, even when it feels never ending! Thank you Lord for blessing me with a child when I was told I couldn't have anymore! Here's my beautiful little 7 lb 4oz, 19 inch baby boy born on 4/10/16! He made our daughter a big sister on National Sibling Day and has stolen all of our hearts! 💚💙
